Texas & Guadalupe Fatmucket Repatration

Arrowhead Ecology Group is collaborating with Texas A&M University and Texas State University on an United States Fish & Wildlife project to help restore populations of the listed Guadalupe and Texas Fatmucket. In this project we are using cutting edge artificial intelligence to predict what location is best suited for species reintroduction.

Picture above represents predictions using machine learning models combined with landscape and instream variables to predict potential USFWS restocking locations (darker blue = better conditions), compared to known occurrences (yellow dots).

This project will be completed in 2023, with restocking of mussels in best suited locations to allow these listed species to flourish. Arrowhead Ecology Group has many modeling tools to cater to our clients specific needs. Smalleye and Sharpnose Shiner Recovery Plan

Arrowhead Ecology Group is collaborating with stakeholders within west Texas to identify research priorities for these impaired minnows. Through a combination of scientific literature review, modeling, and research, Arrowhead Ecology Group is bringing clients understanding of biomonitoring needs for these two minnows

this project is in the early stages. Arrowhead Ecology Group will update as information on this project unfolds

Navarro Heights Housing Development Environmental Permitting

Arrowhead Ecology Group is passionate about helping our clients with the environmental permitting process. We recently used applied our skills to acquire permits required for the Navarro Heights housing development in Seguin, Texas (photo to the right). Our process of environmental permitting begins with a critical issues analysis, where evaluating all potential permits that may be needed for that particular property. This includes, but is not limited to wetland, endangered species, and phase 1 environmental assessments.

We then apply a desktop approach to evaluate the need for each permit (example of potential wetlands in blue below). If our desktop approach yields the possibility of a permit, we then deploy field applications.Field applications for this project included a wetlands delineation (picture below). From all assessments, we helped developers apply and obtain proper 404 permits.
